At WeMeet, your security and privacy are paramount. All real-time audio, video, and screen-sharing streams are encrypted in transit using industry-standard WebRTC DTLS-SRTP (AES-256) encryption. Media streams flow directly between participants whenever possible and are never stored or inspected on intermediate servers.

2. Information We Collect

We adhere to strict data minimization principles. We only collect the minimal information necessary to deliver high-quality video conferencing:

Account Information: Display name, email address, and hashed credentials (salted BCrypt rounds).
Meeting Metadata: Room codes, passcodes, scheduled start times, and participant rosters.
Technical Telemetry: Temporary WebRTC network quality snapshots (bitrate, packet loss, RTT) used exclusively for real-time diagnostic indicators during active calls.

3. AI Transcription & Consent Protocol

Live speech transcription features are strictly opt-in. When a meeting host enables live transcription, all room participants are presented with an explicit Privacy Consent Banner. Audio is processed strictly to generate live captions and AI meeting summaries, and is never used to train public machine learning models.

4. Data Retention & Zero-Sell Guarantee

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal data or meeting content to any third party. Persistent database entities are secured in enterprise PostgreSQL environments protected by strict row-level security and TLS 1.3 socket encryption.
